Dungeons and Dragons: The Phoenix #1 (Part 2)

Aurion, the a gold dragon who walks the world as a man, was standing in front of us, maskerading as the human captain of the shi patrol. He did not recognise us when he saw us, but why would he? He wouldn’t meet us for several millennia. I leaned in and spoke in a low voice: “Funny place to see a gold dragon”.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Aurion replied, but I could see that flicker in his eyes that gave him away. This was the same Aurion that had helped us speak with the Chimera. The same Aurion who had left me his sword so that I could defeat the Druid of the Famorey and her followers. We spoke with him about what his patrol was doing in the woods and discovered that many of the cities and dwellings of all creatures had been destroyed in the war. In addition to that, Aurion was looking for the Phoenix to use as a deterrent against the Witch King. We knew now was the time to speak with him privately. Playing on his flirtatious tendencies toward females of any species, our drow and elven avenger took him to one side and, after the dwarf and myself had finished our distraction we wandered over to a discussion in full flow.
Aurion was curious as to how we knew he was a gold dragon. We explained about how we were from the future, and the unfortunate events of the future. We also explained that our drow mage was the Phoenix, the gem of the Ogryn proved that fact. Aurion said that she couldn’t be the phoenix as they already had her. Well, the bloodstone had her. With that, we decided to aid the Shi in the war effort, well aware of the outcome of the war: the Shi triumphed after unleashing the phoenix. An event that almost destroyed half the world.
